Who We Are

The Confederation of Micro and Small Enterprises Organizations East Africa (CMSEO-EA) is a regional body dedicated to empowering micro and small enterprises across the East African Community.

We are a regional umbrella body representing the interests of the informal sector, majority of who are in the Micro and Small Enterprises – (with contacts in, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania , Uganda, South Sudan ,Democratic Republic of Congo and now exploring Somalia)

Our Mission

To strengthen Micro and Small Enterprises the backbone of East Africa's economy through capacity building, market access, and strategic partnerships.

Our Vision

A prosperous and interconnected East African business ecosystem where Micro and Small Enterprises thrive and contribute significantly to economic growth.

Our Objectives

The Micro and Small Enterprises Sector cuts across all sectors of the economy. Majority of the MSEs are in the informal sector which consists of more than 18 sub-sectors.

  • Some of the objectives include:

    Promoting industrialization and entrepreneurial culture towards the creation of an economic power house in the region.
  • Changing the region from a consumer economy where goods and services play a crucial role in global trade, whilst: (a) meeting global standards in respect to creativity, innovation and skills development, and (b) utilizing local resources.
  • Advocacy, representation and providing a platform for exchange of ideas among the Micro Entrepreneurs of the East African Region

CMSEO-East Africa operates across the East African Community, with member organizations in 8 countries.

CMSEO-EA currently draws representation from seven East African Community partner states:

  • Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Burundi,
  • Kenya
  • Republic of South Sudan
  • Rwanda
  • Tanzania
  • Uganda
  • Working on further outreach to Somalia
